Scientific Analysis and Advice on Gender Equality in the EU

SAAGE offers reliable, independent, and rigorous scientific advice on gender equality to the European Commission. Its network of Country Experts provides up-to-date knowledge on the current and perspective situation and policies in all EU Member States. The monitoring and collection of information at country level are complemented with thematic insights thanks to the involvement of a wide network of Thematic Experts. Their research activities – to be reported in studies, and discussed in seminars with EU officials – offer detailed knowledge on very specific topics. By coupling the country level and thematic perspectives, SAAGE will strengthen the European Commission's knowledge base on gender equality, and will support the adoption of effective policy initiatives for the advancement of gender equality in the EU.

European Semester Supporting Negotiation for a Gender Equality Focus

This annual seminar of the SAAGE network of experts will focus on the evolving context for gender equality across the Member States and the EU. In particular it will focus on sharing information and generating perspectives on progress made, challenges encountered, and progress to be made.
The seminar seeks to inform a future EU Gender Equality Strategy, through discussion and deliberation between European Commission officials and the SAAGE network of experts.

This SAAGE seminar will focus on the learning garnered from the achievements and challenges in implementing the ‘Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025’.

Reviewing progress & looking ahead

This annual seminar of the SAAGE network of experts provides an opportunity to discuss the situation, challenges, and policies in the EU Member States with European Commission officials. It takes place at a moment of transition at European level with the appointment of a new College of Commissioners and with the concluding period of the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025.
