Work-Life Balance: Demographics, Care Work and Care Infrastructure
The seminar aims to deepen the knowledge and understanding of changing demographics, the demands of care work, and the care infrastructure required to achieve work-life balance. Specifically, the seminar seeks to:
- Deepen knowledge about the various elements in the Work-Life Balance Package.
- Explore demographic choices, in particular spacing of births of children within families, and the influence of uptake and length of family leaves.
- Enhance understanding of the mix of paid and unpaid work during the life cycle, including use of career breaks, the sharing of this between women and men, and the implications of this for women’s careers.
- Stimulate insights into caring responsibilities and the management of these for women’s careers and the implications of these for work-life balance policy and programmes.
